Everything Bad is Good for You: Games

I found that the way that the author turned books to be something so negative was very interesting. You never hear about any one putting down books, all you really hear is that more people need read. In my chemistry class my sophomore year in high school my teacher put up a webpage on the board that was talking about a new dangerous discovery. It was saying that studies showed that if you had too much of this certain product that you will die, and went on and on about it. It ended up only being water. What my teacher was trying to prove is that you cannot trust and rely on everything you find on the internet. However I think that this article and website are sort of the same idea. The author tried to have the reader see that these new books are ruining young minds, the same way the website was saying water was dangerous. You can persuade readers relatively easy, as long as you have a few good points that make sense...

I tried looking for that link but I could not find it.

So far

Our project is all about how the technology in our community is distracting. Hayley is saying the distraction is affecting relationships, and I am doing how the technology is affecting schoolwork. The technology we observed that was the main distraction was the game console Xbox360. So far my partner and I have set up how how project is going tobe presented and organized. All that we have left to do is just plan out how to make the presentation ten minuetes long and exactly what we are going to say to accomplish this.

John Stewart Speech

John Stewart made a hilarious graduation speech for William and Mary College. His speech was very entertaining making it a very easy read. At my high school graduation, I had a speech similar to this one given by our class president. He, like John, put jokes throughout his speech to liven up the usually boring environment. While I was reading John Stewart's I was really laughing out loud, he was hilarious. I really enjoyed the fact that he still got his point across to the graduating class, while still putting his comedy flavor into it.

Ideas

For this new assignment i have a few ideas in mind, but one that i really want to do.  I was thinking that maybe i would go to like Dunkin' Donuts and observe some coffee drinker and my other idea would be just anywhere on campus that a group of people are. I have no been going to Bridgewater long enough to know where any of these places are, but i don't think it would be too hard to find. Finally, the one I'm most interested in doing is to go to Brockton hospital and observe the emergency waiting room. That place is always crazy and could be very easy and fun to write about and interview people.

Identity

Our first reading in class was all based on identity. We all looked at the three main assumptions that go along with what people think make our identity.I believe that these three assumptions: identity is what you're born with, its shaped by culture, and that it is shaped by personal choices are truly what identity is made of. Assumption number one is all factors of our identity that we had no control over. Assumption number are the outside factors that effect you on a everyday basis that you don't necessarily realize. The third and final assumption is your personal choices, things like the friends you pick or the activities you choose to get involved in.

collage idea

Like many people, my identity was and still is to this day shaped by the people around me. I plan on doing my collage on my outside influences that shape who I am today. My family, friends, and my religion are the main influences that play the biggest role. My family and friends are just amazing and have always been there for me, and I know they always will. My love for god and practicing my religion is also another huge aspect of my identity and will absolutely be showcased throughout my collage.
